Anticipation

Yesterday, I again awoke to a message on my phone. This time it was from Nicky Manning, asking for Richie’s e-mail address. She and her partner, John B, are coming over in March and want to begin their visit in Cape Town, since neither of them have been there before. What a treat they are in for.

John and Lin were due to leave London last night. Having heard nothing to the contrary, I am sure they must be here by now. We’ll see them at Angelo’s this evening for a big reunion. The weather is gloriously sunny and hot, just as they like it. A welcome change from the snow they endured in London over the weekend, I am sure based on Lin’s comments on Facebook.

Deryk worked out of his office yesterday. One of his appointments was to see Clodagh Shaw. They had lunch together in Kloof, after spending time on Clodagh’s small holding. As well as doing business, they had a great catch up. Clodagh gave up training horses for racing a few years back and now is a full-time show jumper. She must be a goodly number of years older than the average rider but still manages to be number one more times than not.

I continued nursing my back yesterday but amused myself in the afternoon checking my e-mail, browsing on Facebook and exploring what excursions are available on our Alaskan cruise. It all begins to feel real when you find your name on the passenger roster and know your cabin number. When Deryk has time, we will look up exactly where on the Grand Princess our cabin is located. On Facebook, I was able to enjoy Rob’s latest pictures and read about Lisa’s frustrations with bureaucracy, as she wrestles with various establishments in her preparations to emigrate to Australia. Paul has been working in Paris this week. I do hope the weather hasn’t hampered him too much and that he found time to see Georg and family.

Deryk is again at the office today (or out and about at appointments). Because of our date with Lin and John tonight, I brought forward my hairdressing appointment. Afterwards, I took the opportunity to try out the new nail bar, Laka, since I’m miffed with the other place. They have an amazing range of colours and other nail products. It’s an Israeli company. It is also much cheaper and has a loyalty program. Looks like they have won a convert.

Just had a text from Lin, they are safely here. Let the fun begin…
